The first volume of the series "Provenire" of the German Centre for the Loss of Cultural Property presents results and experiences of provenance research on Nazi looted property in Germany and bundles material from ten years of research funding in cultural property preservation institutions. Sorted encyclopaedically according to places and actors involved in the theft of Nazi cultural property, the structure of provenance research as a dynamic field of research is depicted. The focus is on the institutional history of the institutions as well as the activities and networks of actors. Diverse research approaches at museums, libraries and archives as well as different resulting "just and fair solutions" in the sense of the Washington Principles are presented.
