Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin
So-called Nazi-looted assets were acquired by the Berlin Central and Regional Library (Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin, ZLB) through various channels that have not yet been fully researched. Today's ZLB consists of the Berlin City Library, founded in 1901, the America Memorial Library, established in West Berlin in 1954 and the Senatsbibliothek Berlin. The task of the ZLB's Provenance Research Department is to examine the library's holdings, identify Nazi-looted items and determine their provenance, all with the aim of giving them back to the previous owners or their heirs.
