Stiftung Topographie des Terrors

29.01.2021

The Library of the Documentation Center Topography of Terror is a research library focusing on history of National Socialism. The library is open to the public. In addition to specialized literature on the history of National Socialism, the library also owns a partial collection of print media from the Nazi era. For the most part, these books came to the library through exchanges and donations from other libraries and institutions, as well as from private hands. There are no accession records for the library's early days, when the majority of writings with publication dates prior to 1945 were incorporated into the collection.

In 2017, the library made initial efforts to research provenances of books and record them locally. In the process, provenance characteristics that raise the suspicion of Nazi-confiscated cultural property were found.
